Microwave Repair — Book a Visit Today

Microwaves quit in a handful of ways. The plate spins but nothing gets warm. The door latch sticks and the whole thing plays dead. Sparks jump inside the cavity. A built-in over the range starts howling because the fan bearing is dry. Under the hood are high-voltage parts that hold a charge even unplugged, so this is one repair we'd rather you didn't poke at. Our visit starts with questions, then a look at the door switches, magnetron circuit, control board, and vent path. We tell you what we find in plain words, including when a unit isn't worth fixing. We're a family shop, we work swing hours, and we repair all major brands. Call us and let's talk it through.

Microwave Repair — residential microwave being serviced

The microwave symptoms we hear most

  • It runs but my food stays cold Magnetron, high-voltage diode, or capacitor failure
  • Sparks and popping inside Burnt waveguide cover, chipped cavity paint, or stray metal arcing
  • Nothing happens when I shut the door Door latch assembly or interlock switch out of adjustment
  • The fan over my stove roars now Dry blower bearing, loose fan wheel, or clogged grease filter
  • Buttons do whatever they want Failed membrane keypad or control board

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Try a different outlet or reset the breaker to rule out lost power.
  • 2Heat one cup of water for two minutes and see if it comes out warm.
  • 3Pull the grease filters on an over-the-range unit and check them for buildup.
  • 4Look at the door edges and latch hooks for cracks or grime keeping it from closing square.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us what it's doing

Ring us or fill in the form. Give us the noise, the smell, the error code, the brand. Small details help us load the right parts before we ever knock on your door.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

Our tech tests the machine instead of guessing. You hear what failed and why, in plain words. Then you decide whether repairing it makes sense or replacing it makes more sense.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and retest

Approved work gets done, often the same visit. We run a full cycle before packing up, wipe down the area, and show you what changed so nothing surprises you next week.

Microwave Repair — quick answers

Is a microwave worth repairing?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Built-in and over-the-range units are usually worth a look because replacing them means cabinet and vent work. Countertop models depend on what failed. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line yours falls on.

Why can't I open it up myself?

The capacitor inside can hold a serious charge long after you unplug the unit. That's not a scare story, it's just how the high-voltage side works. Discharging it takes the right tool and habit. Leave the cover on and call us.

Does hard water affect a microwave?

Not directly, but our dry-then-humid swings do. Steam from cooking plus swamp cooler moisture can corrode door switch contacts and rust the cavity floor near seams. Wiping the interior dry after heavy steaming helps more than people expect.

My microwave hums loudly but heats fine. Problem?

Often it's the cooling fan or, on over-the-range models, the vent blower. A dry bearing gets loud before it seizes. Heating still works until the magnetron overheats and shuts down. Worth checking early rather than after a shutdown.

Can you fix a built-in microwave in place?

Usually. Most repairs happen with the unit pulled forward on its mounts or partly out of the cabinet. We bring what's needed to support it safely. If a part has to be ordered, we reinstall it secure before we leave.

How long does a repair visit take?

Many take one appointment once we know the failed part. Diagnosis is quick. If a control board or magnetron needs ordering, we come back to install. Call us and describe the symptom, and we can guess at parts ahead of time.
