Glowing isn't enough. That igniter has to pull a specific amount of current to trip the safety valve open. A weak one still glows orange while the valve stays shut. We test the draw, not the color.

Can I keep using the oven with a broken door seal?

You can, but expect uneven results and a hotter kitchen. Escaping heat makes the oven cycle constantly and bakes the top and bottom differently. A flattened gasket is a quick fix compared to chasing phantom temperature complaints.

What does the self-clean cycle do to an oven?

It runs extremely hot, and that heat is hard on thermal fuses, door latches, and control boards. Plenty of ovens die right after a self-clean. If yours went dark after one, mention that when you call us.
